The winter months bring with them exciting snow sporting opportunities which take place on the mountains that surround Crans-Montana. There are over 140 kilometres of world-class ski runs to choose from.
As the weather begins to warm and the snow melts, it reveals dense forests, and deep blue lakes which are situated close to the village. There are a total of five lakes which are used for swimming by both visitors and locals. Swim during the slightly colder months for a very refreshing experience, or wait for the waters to warm for a more relaxed activity.

How to Get to Crans-Montana
Crans-Montana is one of the most popular ski destinations in Valais, with exceptional access by both car and train. Access Crans-Montana directly from Geneva by car in less than two hours. Discover this stunning Alpine destination for yourself, and find out why it makes a fantastic break all year round.
Most of the journey from airports is on the motorway, connecting to the A9 towards Sierre. The final 14 kilometres from Sierre to Crans-Montana is a winding mountain road. Remember that driving on Swiss motorways requires a Swiss Motorway vignette, which can be purchased and is valid for one year.

ACCCESS BY RAIL
Reaching Crans-Montana by rail is nice and easy. From Geneva, you can take a direct train to Sierre, with departures approximately every 30 minutes from Geneva Airport. The journey to Sierre takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Upon arriving in Sierre, you have two main options. Firstly, you can take a five-minute shuttle bus to the Sierre-Montana Crans (SMC) Funicular, which goes up to Montana Gare in 12-20 minutes. Instead, you can take a 370-metre walk to the funicular station (about 5-10 minutes uphill).
If you prefer not to use the funicular, you can take a bus from Sierre to Crans-Montana, which takes about 45 minutes, or order a taxi. However, the funicular offers a quicker and more scenic route with stunning views across the valley to Zinal.
For those arriving from Bern, simply take a train to Visp and transfer to a train heading to Sierre. Then then follow the same instructions above. The train journey from Visp to Sierre takes approximately 30 minutes.
For those arriving from Zurich, start by taking a direct train from Zurich Airport to Zurich Hauptbahnhof (HB), which takes about 10-15 minutes. From Zurich HB, transfer and then take a train heading to Sierre; this journey takes roughly 2 hours.
Consider booking an integrated all-in-one ticket through the Swiss Travel System, which includes the train and funicular or bus ride. Travel times from Swiss airports are approximately:
